will promote, integrate, and coordinate workforce development services throughout the five county area. Through collaborations with businesses, job seekers, and community partners we will be the focal point of employment and training activities.
Financial assistance is available through the Workforce Investment Act to help pay for career training for dislocated workers who are unemployed due to layoff, business closing or other reasons. In some cases, this funding covers all career training and education costs. One-stop centers also can help dislocated workers find scholarships to help cover training expenses.
Training and education funding also is available through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program, specifically for people who have lost their jobs as the result of foreign trade—for instance, when a plant is closed or jobs are moved out of the country due to foreign competition.
TAA also offers eligible workers other benefits such as income support, job search and relocation allowances, a tax credit to help pay the costs of health insurance, and a wage supplement to some reemployed, trade-affected workers who are 50 years of age and older. A wage reimbursement is available through TAA to employers who provide on-the-job training for TAA-certified workers.
Training is available. Find more information here>>
